Change your habits, change your LIFE!
Don’t like how your life or health is turning out?
Look at your habits As a Chiropractor and a speaker within my profession, I come into contact with hundreds of people on a weekly basis. Some of these people are not content with how their life is turning out. Most of our happiness in life boils down to contentment. Happiness can be fleeting. It has a lot to do with external circumstances, going on vacation, getting that next new “thing”, meeting friends at a great restaurant, watching football especially when your Eagles are in the Superbowl, etc. Contentment is an inside job. It comes with loving yourself and knowing that you are serving this world with the talent that God has blessed you with. As the declaration of independence says, we are endowed by our creator with unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Contentment is the same way I believe, it’s not a destination, it’s a life-long pursuit. Contentment comes from how you show up in this world every day. Do you look and feel good? Are you making a difference in someone else’s life? Are you loved and do you have someone to love? Do you wake up each morning with purpose and passion because God created you with an intention? People in the world these days are struggling with many things; health, finances, family life, work, and a multitude of other things. The reason for this largely boils down to their habits. Your outcomes in life are a mirror reflection of your daily habits. The first step to changing your habits is awareness. Knowing what needs to change and why it needs to change is critical. Many people walk through life numb because they are so busy with “stuff” every day, that they don’t pay attention to the things that really matter. We KNOW what these are, we just aren’t tuned in to them. If you make small deposits in the areas that matter on a regular basis, I can almost assure you that your life will radically change for the better. Again, our life reflects our daily habits, when we make more positive deposits (good habits) than negative withdrawals (bad habits), happiness and contentment are the natural outcomes for our lives. In his book, Atomic Habits, James Clear outlines 4 laws of habit formation and behavior change. This could include exercising more, reading more, getting off social media ALL the time, saving some instead of spending all your money or eating more whole foods instead of processed foods. These 4 laws can help you change a bad habit into a good one. They are: 1. The Cue, make a good habit obvious and a bad habit invisible 2. The Craving, make a good habit attractive and a bad habit invisible 3. The Response, make a good habit easy and a bad habit difficult 4. The Reward, make a good habit feel satisfying and a bad habit feel unsatisfying It doesn’t matter the habit you want to change, if you use these 4 laws, your habits will change and so will your life. Pay attention to what habits are serving you and what habits are killing your health, your wealth, your soul, and your spirit. Don’t ever forget that tiny changes made regularly can produce remarkable results in your life. Best in Health, Dr. Dane
